Papago Golf Course

Overall Ranking: #18

Papago Golf Course has been a part of the valley’s golf tradition since 1963. Papago has consistently been ranked in the top 20 municipal golf courses in the USA. Papago Golf Course is now home to The ASU golf team and has gone through many renovations since 2010. They have updated turf, greens and bunkers throughout course to accommodate collegiate golf. Greens are some of the best in the valley. The course layout is top notch and has an old school feel and all you can handle from the tips! In addition to the updated turf, the location is set in the heart of Phoenix, set against Papago mountain. More of a hill, but really cool setting and views. The only downside to this course is the waste areas and desert terrain. The edges and waste areas of this course have a municipal feel and conditions away from greens and fairways are not manicured. If you are looking for a great location and top-notch design without the bells and whistles, this course is for you! The clubhouse had a complete overhaul in 2018, at a cost of over 5 million. An absolute gem and great place for food and drink after round.
